Di Calcium Phosphate, CaHO4P occurs naturally as a mineral called monetite and contains 29.5% Calcium with 22.8% Phosphorous. It is widely used as a source of both macro minerals in animal feeds and supplements. The calcium: phosphorous balance in DCP is less than that required in equine diets. Horse owners using it themselves should be aware of the Phosphorous content and that it may be unsuitable for situations where the dietary Calcium: Phosphorous balance is lower than desired when a simple Calcium supplement such as Calcium Carbonate (Lime) is needed.
