Pantothenic Acid a.k.a. Vitamin B5 / Pantothenate

Water soluble B vitamin essential for the manufacture of Coenzyme A which is required for fatty acid synthesis. Pantothenate is necessary for the formation of red blood cells, conversion of nutrients into energy, making neurotransmitters, steroid hormones, maintaining healthy skin and numerous other roles.

Pantothenic acid being present in most plants and grains is widely distributed in the diet of the horse and neither deficiency nor toxicity has been recorded. The actual requirement is yet to be established.
